The River

Oh cliffs of granite,
oh forests so green,
all I can view
looks so serene.

White clouds drift by
against sky’s of blue,
when I am here
I feel renewed.

Between the hills
the water flows,
down each face
tumbling as it goes.

Rivulets join the streams,
sparkling as they descend,
till they’ve joined the river
and reached its end.

Oh the river is wide,
I can’t cross over,
to see my love
on the farther shore.

Give me a boat
that two can row,
and my love and I
down the river we’ll go.
